Angel Palliative Care & Hospice Earns National Institute for Jewish Hospice (NIJH) Accreditation

Compassionate End-of-Life Care Rooted in Cultural Understanding

Angel Palliative Care & Hospice (APCH) is proud to be accredited by the National Institute for Jewish Hospice (NIJH), a nationally recognized organization dedicated to improving end-of-life care for Jewish patients and families through education, training, and cultural awareness. Founded in 1985, NIJH has accredited hundreds of hospices and trained thousands of healthcare professionals across the United States.

This accreditation reflects APCH’s commitment to providing compassionate, culturally sensitive, and faith-informed care that honors the unique traditions, values, and beliefs of Jewish individuals and their families. Through specialized education and ongoing staff training, our team has developed expertise in Jewish medical ethics, end-of-life customs, bereavement practices, holiday observances, and culturally respectful communication.

What NIJH Accreditation Means for Our Patients and Families

Families who choose APCH can feel confident knowing our team is trained to understand and respect important aspects of Jewish end-of-life care, including:

Jewish medical ethics and decision-making
Religious and cultural traditions surrounding serious illness and death
Bereavement, mourning, and memorial practices
Coordination with rabbis, clergy, and community leaders
Respect for diverse Jewish backgrounds and levels of observance
Support during Jewish holidays and significant life-cycle events

Our goal is to ensure that every patient and family feels understood, respected, and supported during one of life’s most meaningful journeys.

A Unique Resource for the Bay Area Jewish Community

As one of the few hospices in the Bay Area to earn NIJH accreditation, APCH is uniquely positioned to serve Jewish patients and families with the cultural sensitivity and specialized knowledge they deserve.

Our interdisciplinary team—including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, hospice aides, and bereavement professionals—works together to provide personalized care that honors each patient’s values, faith, and wishes.

Care That Honors Every Individual

While this accreditation strengthens our ability to serve the Jewish community, APCH remains committed to providing exceptional hospice and palliative care to people of all backgrounds, cultures, and faith traditions. We believe that compassionate care begins with understanding what matters most to each patient and family.
